How to make the
front and rear cover pages for manga books
 In
Japan, almost all manga stories are published serially in manga magazines
first, and then collected into book form if they become popular.
At the moment one of Tsugumi's serial stories titled "SF Chikyu
Boeitai Shinjin-chan 100-100" is in the process of being published
in a book format. The long title translates as "Sci-Fi Earth
Defence Force A New Conscript Number 100-100".
For the front cover she had to draw 3 full color illustrations,
and then, the publisher asked a designer to do the lay out. So at
the moment, Tsugumi has got back 8 different lay outs and she will
discuss which one to use, with the editor and designer. After the
final lay out is decided, the book will be published in February.
Of course the rest of the lay outs will be shredded so the readers
will never see them. However we think they all are good and because
it's a shame to waste them, we decided to put them on our web site
with the agreement of the designer Mr. Shiiba at Shindo-sha.
